I've put Cruechicks poem first, as the winner of the poetry evening on worlds.
I think this poem sums up all our thoughts.

September 11, 2001. by Cruechick

September 11th will live with us all
The day the symbols of power did fall
From out of the sky came horrendous terror
Which changed the world and our lives forever

That day started off as an everyday morning
And was cut down viciously without any warning
How can we make any sense of it all
The day the walls and our hearts did fall

Men, women and children of all different nations
Will cry and mourn for friends and relations
So many are lost, so many are hurting
For what we ask - and come up with nothing

But from out of the pain comes a strong resolution
We WILL overcome this terrorist intrusion
We will never give up our freedom or rights,
Against this kind of hatred, WE WILL UNITE

911 - SirGemini

Tuesday September 11th began in the normal way
We rose from bed..got dressed and went to work that day

But something horrific changed all of our lives
As Terrorist reigned down death and destruction from our blue skies

They hijacked our planes and terrified the passengers and crew
Little were we prepared for what they would do

Twin Towers standing magistically tall
Were now our fire....and about to fall

We sat and watched from on the edge of our seat
As our loved ones fled out into the street

The ran and they ran as fast as they could
But for some..........sigh.....it did little good

110 stories each....crumbled to the ground
Oh the dust....... oh the noise.....what a terrible sound

The rescuers came fast and were quick to begin
Digging and searching while volunteers pitched in

We held our breath in shock and dismay
As the stories unfolded on this terrible day

Something horrific changed all our lives
As Terrorist reigned down death from our blue skies

To those families and friends who have lost someone this week
I  pray for their souls as the tears run down my cheek

God Bless us all as we darn not give up hope
God Bless the families and help them cope

Multitudes - HOST-Pax

They stood in multitudes to wait
As Terror moved upon the world
They witnessed this act of hate!
They stood side by side in silence
As they assembled before the gate

With a boom like a million guns
Smoke billowed out to cover all
Mothers lost a thousand sons
Flames billowed as if from Hades
And another thousand lives were done

They stood in silent bands
As someone moved out from the haze
A few moved forward with outreached hands
To assist this one forward to the gate
And helped him to rest upon golden sands

Soon many more moved on the path
Moving towards the gate
Away from some Satan's wrath
The numbers grew and grew
The silent helping hands had no time for math

They walked side by side
Moslem with Jew
From a terrorist tide
Black walked with white
Heads held with pride

Here thousands were gathered
Before the great gate
Where race and religion no longer mattered
Together as one people they stood
As the silence of sorrow was shattered

They all saw the sight
To some he was heavy
To others he was slight
To some he was passive
To others he was might

He spoke as a multitude of Angels reached out.
To souls of many peoples
His words leaving not one to doubt
"You are all my children!
Let none be left out!"

On the path that they trod
The thousands of new angels now knew
Race didn't matter they were all children of God!

Untitled - HOGGLE_GLB

War is always a fabled thought
to people of my generation
something from a movie or book -
but not on this occasion.

I could drone on and on
about what we all have lost
but we must now concentrate
on what we have gained at a cost.

Life has become valuable
as it always should have been,
turn to your unknown neighbor...
and let the healing begin.

The Eagles Tear - Purrfect

The mighty Eagle looked down on the country he loves so much, as a
tear fell from his eye

He felt sorrow for all the people and pain and for the ones that had
to die

He saw the once tall buildings now just piles of rumble

And he wondered if anyone could have forseen this kind of trouble

He hears his people crying for the loved ones they lost

And he vows to find who did this, whatever the cost

These terrorists who can kill innocent people without a thought

But for the sake of all people, they must be caught

Because their act of terrorism not only hurt Americans, it

hurt people everywhere

This ungodly act, destroying innocent people, so unfair

Another tear drops as he watches his country struggle to recover

But he feels proud at the way they reach out to one another

A huge country coming together, united

And this act will not cause them to be devided

They will pick up the pieces and rebuild from the ground

And long after the terrorists are gone they will still be around

The Eagle stretches his wings and lets out a sigh

Wondering about these people who caused so many to die

Fighting for a cause with so little humanity

Taking lives in an cruel act of insanity

He knows in the end these people will be made to pay

Just as he knows his country is here to stay

Because not giving up is the American way

He watches as they come together, and start to recover

This country of his so unlike any other

And so the Eagle, our symbol of freedom, soars throught the sky

Strong and free, just like his country, but still he does cry....

Dedicated to all the people who died and lost loved ones in this crime
against the world...
