Most of the following links I have gathered throughout many years of working in the HIV education field, and I mean field. On the streets, woods, bars, under bridges, prisons, half-way houses, shelters, soup kitchens, crack houses and shooting galleries. Anytime I can get one or more high risk people to listen to me I feel I have accomplished my work for the day. I try to inform and educate addicts to STOP sharing needles and to use a condom EVERYTIME they have sex. It's that simple….A note to parents: TALK to your children about their risks of becoming infected. Call the board of education in the city that they go to school and ask how many female adolescents in the school system are pregnant, or ask if any schools in your area have completed any surveys and how you can obtain a copy, you might be shocked to learn that things have changed since you went to school….I know I was. I live in a small city in Northeast United States, a city of around 75,000 people and there was five girls in elementary school (K-6) that were pregnant and over one hundred and thirty at the high school level (10-12). When I graduated there was one female that got pregnant in her senior year. Kids are having sex at a younger age today. Ie: if you had sex for the first time at age sixteen, subtract two years, this is an average age today that teens start to become sexually active. (end of lecture)
